Try this recipe this morning - you might need it. A good hangover soother, the name of this sandwich is taken from the French words croquer ("to crunch") and monsieur ("mister"). And for the ladies, a Croque Monsieur topped with a fried or poached egg is called a Croque Madame.

Directions

  1. Spread some toast bread with mayonnaise in which you have mixed some grain mustard.
  2. Sandwich tasty cheese and ham (this is a good way to use up leftover Christmas ham).
  3. Dip the sandwich in a mix of egg and milk and either gently fry both sides in a pan on the top of the stove or place the Croques on a baking tray and cook in a moderate oven till golden.
