Directions

  1. Place chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl. Set bowl over a saucepan with a little gently simmering water in the base, for three to five minutes until chocolate has melted. Stir until smooth.
  2. Peel bananas and cut into bite-sized chunks. Spread out chopped toasted nuts (such as almonds, walnuts, peanuts or pistachios) on a large plate.
  3. Using two forks, lift each piece of banana separately and roll it first in the melted chocolate and then in the nuts, to coat.
  4. Transfer to a tray covered in plastic wrap and place in a cool place to set (this will take up to an hour). Use toothpicks to serve.

Tip: When melting chocolate, make sure the water does not come into contact with the chocolate because it can clump together and make the melted chocolate lumpy.

Tip: Chocolate can also be melted in the microwave, if preferred. Microwave in one-minute bursts on high until melted, then stir until smooth.

Tip: Chocolate banana bites can be frozen, if desired. Spread out on a freezer-proof plastic tray covered with plastic wrap and freeze for one hour.
