A long time Kiwi favourite, afghans are guaranteed to always be a popular sweet treat.

|1½ cups||Standard flour|
|½ tsp||Baking powder|
|3 tbsp||Cocoa powder|
|2 cups||Icing sugar|
|2 tbsp||Cocoa powder|
- Preheat oven to 180 degC. Beat first portion of butter and sugar until pale and creamy, then mix in the combined flour, baking
- Place teaspoonfuls of mixture in mounds on a greased or lined tray and bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until firm. Cool on a wire rack.
- In a bowl, mix icing sugar and the second portions of cocoa(2 tble) and butter(25g) with enough hot water to make a firm but spreadable icing.
- Ice afghan biscuits and top each one with a walnut piece.
